Expert consultation-the fourth Youth Teacher Development BBS has been a success in college of fisheries

Core tip: the fourth Youth Teacher Development BBS of the fisheries college was held at the international academic exchange center on July 17. This BBS invited researcher especially Xie Ping (winner of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars), Chinese academy of sciences institute of aquatic organisms; Ai Qinghui(winner of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars), China ocean university professor; Sun Yongan(winner of Outstanding Youth Science Foundation), researcher at the Chinese academy of sciences institute of aquatic organisms as experts to comment. BBS is presided by professor Zhang Yong’an, Dean of the college of fisheries. All the teachers of the college participated in BBS. All the young teachers made scientific research reports and received expert comments.

Youth teacher development BBS is an annual inter-school communication platform of the college, aiming to strengthen the communication among teachers in the aquaculture college and improve the ability of young teachers.

Cao Xiaojuan, an associate professor, talked about the research progress of ‘breeding of good species of loach and related mechanisms’. A variety of loach breeding materials with excellent growth characters and meat quality were obtained through breeding, and the contents of breeding and breeding of loach were systematically described from breeding to gene knockout to proteomics. Professor Xu Zhen delivered a report entitled ‘The swimbladder plays a previously unrecognized new function in mucosal immunity’, providing the latest insight into the evolutionary origins of mucosal immunological defenses --the ability of the intestine, gills and skin of bony fish to produce a parasitic immune response, and his recent research has found that swim bladders play an important role in mucosal immunity. Its rigorous scientific thinking, systematic and in-depth research and the presentation of research results were praised by the experts present. Professor Liu Chunsheng talked about the ‘new progress in the study of water eco-toxicology of water pollutant TDCIPP’, which revealed that TDCIPP caused developmental and reproductive toxicity by interfering with the growth axis, and found that TDCIPP inhibited the growth and daphnia production of daphnia magna, revealing the toxic mechanism of TDCIPP to daphnia magna, as well as the multi-generation toxicity mechanism mediated by endoplasmic reticulum stress. Professor Luo Zhi delivered ‘new progress in research on the effect of mineral salt on fat deposition and metabolism of fish’, conducting research on nutrient feed from a unique perspective.

Young teachers either reported their own research progress and the prospect of subsequent experiments, or explained their research direction and experimental design ideas. After the report of young teachers, the experts at the meeting fully exchanged and commented on the explanation of each reporter, and put forward questions based on their own experience and gave personalized development suggestions.

Researcher Xie Ping often asks people why they want to do this research and what kind of theoretical or industrial problems can be solved. He repeatedly says that doing scientific research should be meaningful and valuable, and raises real scientific problems around the industry. Experts say research should be distinctive, innovative, able to spot new phenomena or solve new problems. It is hoped that the college teachers will focus on their strengths, go further and further on the road of scientific research, and make greater contributions to the development of aquaculture.

As young teachers, although scientific research ideas and achievements are of great importance, it is important to keep strict with the construction of teachers' morality and style. At the symposium of teachers and students in Peking University, President Xi stressed that ‘building a contingent of high-quality teachers with excellent political quality, professional ability and educational level is the basic work of university construction.’ In the afternoon, at halftime of BBS, Zhang Shaodong, secretary of the party committee of aquaculture, gave a warning of teacher's morality and teacher's morality at the conference. At this point, the fourth Youth Teacher Development BBS of the fisheries college successfully ended. At the end of BBS, Zhang Yong’an, director of the fisheries college, said that he hoped to make use of the platform of BBS development by young teachers, so that teachers could make clear their development goals, think deeply about the problems raised by experts, clarify their research ideas and improve their experimental plans to have better development. The aquaculture college will also focus on the development of aquaculture and integrate the strength of young teachers. All teachers will strengthen exchanges and cooperation to produce more and better results and make contributions to the development of aquaculture and the development of schools.
